For many people, work is simply something they have to get through.
Monday comes. The workweek begins. They count the hours until Friday and dream about retirement.
But God designed work to be more than a way to pay the bills.
Colossians 3:23 tells us, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.”
Those words give ordinary work a greater purpose.
When you clean a house, care for a patient, teach a class, build something, answer emails, serve customers, manage a business, or raise children at home, you can do it for the Lord.
Your job may not seem important. You may feel like what you do goes unnoticed.
God sees it.
And He can use it.
Your coworkers may never open a Bible, but they see you. They see how you handle disappointment. They see whether you complain constantly or remain grateful. They see how you treat people who cannot do anything for you.
Your work ethic can become a testimony.
You don’t have to force your faith into every conversation. Live it. Let Christ shape the way you work and the way you treat people.
Your workplace is part of your mission field.
So don’t underestimate the influence God has given you.
Go to work today with a different purpose. Don’t just make a living. Make Jesus famous.
