The Hole in Your Soul

Have you ever wondered why there is a longing deep within your soul that nothing seems to satisfy? You may try to fill it with success, possessions, money, achievements, or even relationships, yet that feeling of emptiness remains.

At times, this longing can make you wonder if something is missing in you—if God somehow made a mistake when He created you. But He didn’t. When God formed you, He left nothing unfinished and nothing was overlooked.

Instead, He placed a longing within you as part of His divine design. I call it the “hole in your soul.” It is a space only He can fill—a reminder that you were created for Him.

God’s plan for your life has always included two things: that He would be glorified and that you would know Him in a real, personal relationship. That desire within you is not a flaw; it is an invitation to seek the One who created you.

So what does it mean to have a relationship with God? Is it simply attending church, saying the right words, or checking a box that says you believe?

God gave everything to demonstrate His love for us. He sent His Son to the cross so we could be restored to Him. To respond with anything less than a genuine relationship of love, trust, and devotion misses the depth of what He desires.

Without knowing God intimately and living a life that reflects His glory, we will continue searching for fulfillment in places that were never meant to satisfy us.

Intimacy With God

Intimacy is not only something we experience in our earthly relationships—it was created for our relationship with God as well.

Some people believe that because they cannot see God, they cannot truly know Him. But God is not distant. You may not see Him with your eyes, yet you can experience His presence, hear His voice through Scripture, and walk with Him in a relationship that is more real than anything this world can offer.

In the quiet moments of the morning, I spend time reading the Bible and turning my heart toward God. I ask Him to speak to me through His Word. During those moments, I am reminded of who I am and why I was created.

Yes, I have been created to be a businessperson, a husband, a father, and a friend. But above all, I was created to be God’s child.

There are moments when I sit with Him and feel a deep sense of peace and fulfillment rise within me. I realize, “This is what I was made for. This is where I belong.”

There is nothing in this life like knowing the One who knows me completely.

Here is something important to remember: You can attend church, worship passionately, listen to Christian music, read your Bible, and memorize Scripture—and still feel empty if your heart is missing true relationship with God.

Love is revealed through action. A life devoted to God is not about checking a box; it is about knowing Him, loving Him, and reflecting Him.

Glorifying God

If you want to experience true fulfillment, begin by knowing the God who created you. Then make it your purpose to bring glory to Him.

To glorify God means putting Him at the center and allowing your life to point others toward Him. It means using everything He has given you—your time, resources, talents, skills, passions, and influence—to reveal His goodness.

When you stop building your own kingdom and begin living for His, you discover a joy and purpose that the world cannot provide.

The longing inside your soul was never meant to be filled by temporary things. It was placed there to draw you closer to the One who loves you most.
